Import a roster from CSV

If your HR platform can't provision accounts automatically — Gusto is the common example — a CSV import adds your whole roster in one pass. You'll find it under Settings → Organization, in the roster import section.

The file needs two columns, name and email. A header row is fine but optional, and when headers are present the column order doesn't matter. Files are capped at 500 rows; a larger file is refused whole rather than half-imported, so split it and run the pieces.

Each row is handled on its own terms and reported back to you:

  • A new person gets an account in your organization, already enrolled in the course. Their account comes back with a one-time setup link — a signed URL where they choose their password. The links appear in the results panel right after the import, once, so copy them then and hand each person theirs over whatever channel you already use.
  • Someone who already has an account but no organization simply joins yours, with no setup link needed — they keep their existing password and any progress they've made.
  • Someone already in your organization is skipped, so re-importing an updated roster is safe.
  • Someone who belongs to a different organization is refused, with the reason in the results.

Seat limits apply per row: if your plan runs out of open seats partway through, the remaining rows are reported as failed rather than silently dropped, and you can add seats and re-run the file — the people already added will just be skipped.

Accounts created this way are treated as verified on your word as the employer, the same trust basis as an HR system feed. That's also why the setup links are shown only once: they're credentials, and you're the one carrying them to your staff.
